Unit 4 Animal Rescue

This week I am choosing a topic that is close to my heart, animal rescue, in particular the touchy subject of pit bull dogs. I understand peoples fear of these animals, and everyone is entitled to their own opinion on the subject. I feel the pit bull has been given a bad reputation due to the ignorance of people who choose to fight animals.
My first memory of having a pet as a child is my father bringing home a little puppy to me, I was 4 or 5 years old. I had no idea this puppy was a pit bull dog and neither did he. I named him Tiger because he had stripes like a tiger. Tiger and I spent many happy hours together playing in the yard and him chasing me as I rode my bike. He passed away when I was 12 years old, he never bit anyone or even acted like he wanted to. In my early twenties I was blessed with another pit bull, I gave birth to two daughters and Rascal loved both of them. Unfortunately he was run over by a car when he was 4 years old. I didn't have a dog for awhile after that. Then when I was going through a very rough time in my life, my neighbor raised pit bull dogs and his female was having distressed labor, it was her first litter. I climbed in the dog house with her on that snowy day Dec. 18 2002, and helped her give birth to five beautiful little puppies. Her last pup was a beautiful little buckskin girl, the runt. I fell in love with her. We lost one of them within 24 hours, a little boy. The rest of them were fine at first, but about a week later, the mother stopped feeding the little runt. I couldn't stand for her to die, so I took her and hand fed her. My neighbor gave her to me and her sister to my daughter. I named her Buttercup, she was a great dog, she became a house dog. When my grandson was born, everyone kept telling me to keep that dog away, and all the horror stories about pit bulls eating babies. Buttercup loved my grandson and it turned out no one could get near him if they weren't family. She was his gaurdian. I would just like to let everyone know that it all in how the animal is raised, not the breed. Please don't pay for a dog, adopt an animal(no matter what breed) from a rescue or pound, they will give you more love than you could ever imagine. I have a friend here locally that runs an animal rescue, if you would like more information on adoption, I would be happy to help you.

Working on my thesis

Hello Everyone;

Today the sun is shining, and I just want to go outside and play like a child. I know I am a bit old for that, but days like today brings out the child in me. I fought the urge to put off my homework, so I have been researching all morning, and writing my discussion post. The thesis is the hard part for me, I know what I want to write about, but putting it into an organized thesis just gets me. I am looking forward to my feedback in the discussion board, any advice will be welcome.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, I have to go on to my A&P II now and work on my presentation for final project.

Its Friday

It is Friday, I hope everyone is having a great day. The snow is finally melting here in Nashville, but we are expecting more this weekend.
In answer to the comments on my first post, I have been reading The Dark series by Christine Feehan. They are good books, but you have to have a taste for vampire books. I am also a huge fan of Anne Rice books. I love to read and have many interests in different authors and different books. I have read everything from educational to spiritual, I love history especially the history of my people, Cherokee and Irish.
Hope everyone has a great weekend, without snow lol.

Old dog New tricks

I am not that old, but blogging is all new to me. I have always kept a written journal, but I never thought of keeping one online, so here goes.
It is a dreary day here, it is snowing and cloudy, I just want to curl up with a good book and read all day. It could be worse, we could have gotten the large amount of snow the East Coast got instead of our small 3". I really can't think of anything else to write at the moment so I think I will go curl up with a good book and enjoy this snow day.
